Installation

Get OnText up and running on your Mac in just a few steps.

Download​

  1. Visit the OnText website
  2. Download the latest .dmg file
  3. Open the DMG and drag OnText to your Applications folder

First Launch​

  1. Open OnText from your Applications folder
  2. Grant permissions when prompted (see Permissions)
  3. Look for the menu bar icon - OnText runs in your menu bar
tip

OnText starts automatically at login by default. You can change this in Preferences.

Verify Installation​

To verify OnText is working:

  1. Select any text in any application
  2. Press F2 (default hotkey)
  3. You should see the floating action panel appear

Updating​

OnText includes automatic updates via Sparkle. When a new version is available:

  1. A notification will appear
  2. Click Install Update
  3. OnText will restart with the new version

Manual Update Check​

To manually check for updates:

  1. Click the OnText icon in the menu bar
  2. Select Check for Updates...
  3. If an update is available, follow the prompts to install
