Installation
Get OnText up and running on your Mac in just a few steps.
Download
- Visit the OnText website
- Download the latest
.dmgfile - Open the DMG and drag OnText to your Applications folder
First Launch
- Open OnText from your Applications folder
- Grant permissions when prompted (see Permissions)
- Look for the menu bar icon - OnText runs in your menu bar
tip
OnText starts automatically at login by default. You can change this in Preferences.
Verify Installation
To verify OnText is working:
- Select any text in any application
- Press F2 (default hotkey)
- You should see the floating action panel appear

Updating
OnText includes automatic updates via Sparkle. When a new version is available:
- A notification will appear
- Click Install Update
- OnText will restart with the new version
Manual Update Check
To manually check for updates:
- Click the OnText icon in the menu bar
- Select Check for Updates...
- If an update is available, follow the prompts to install
