Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern your use of OnText, including the OnText macOS app and the OnText website.

Acceptance​

By downloading, installing, purchasing, or using OnText, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use OnText.

What OnText Does​

OnText is a macOS utility for acting on selected text. It can run built-in actions, custom actions, scripts, Shortcuts, URL actions, and Inline AI workflows.

You are responsible for reviewing actions, scripts, prompts, provider settings, and replacement results before using them in important contexts.

License To Use OnText​

Subject to these Terms, you are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use OnText for personal or internal work purposes.

You may not:

  • reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code except where allowed by law
  • resell, sublicense, rent, or redistribute OnText without permission
  • bypass license checks, activation limits, or feature restrictions
  • use OnText to violate laws, third-party rights, or platform rules

Free And Pro Features​

OnText may offer a free tier and a paid Pro tier. Pro features, price, trial availability, and purchase terms are shown on the website, purchase page, or in the app.

Paid purchases are handled by Gumroad unless another official purchase channel is shown. Gumroad may apply its own checkout, payment, tax, refund, and account terms.

A Pro license is intended for the activation and device limits shown in the app, purchase page, or support materials. You are responsible for keeping your license key private.

Trials, Activations, And License Checks​

OnText may include a time-limited Pro trial.

To activate or verify Pro, OnText may contact Gumroad and OnText's license activation systems. License checks may verify purchase status, refund status, dispute status, chargeback status, and device activation state.

OnText may revoke, deactivate, or restrict Pro access if a license is invalid, refunded, disputed, chargebacked, shared beyond allowed limits, or used to bypass activation rules.

Updates And Availability​

OnText may change over time. Features may be added, changed, limited, removed, or renamed.

The app and website are provided as available. There may be downtime, bugs, compatibility issues, provider outages, or macOS changes that affect behavior.

AI Providers And User Content​

Inline AI can send your prompts, selected text, conversation context, and chosen attachments to the AI provider you configure.

You are responsible for:

  • choosing the provider
  • reviewing that provider's policies and terms
  • deciding what text or files are appropriate to send
  • checking AI output before relying on it
  • complying with applicable laws and workplace or customer confidentiality rules

AI output may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for your use case. Do not rely on AI output as professional, legal, medical, financial, or safety-critical advice.

Custom Actions, Scripts, And Automation​

OnText may let you run URLs, shell scripts, AppleScript, macOS Shortcuts, and other custom workflows.

You are responsible for the actions you create or run. Scripts and automations can change files, send data to external services, or affect other apps. Review commands and templates before running them.

Privacy​

Use of OnText is also governed by the Privacy Policy, which explains local data, selected text, AI provider requests, purchases, license activation, and support contact handling.

Support​

Support is provided by email at ontext.help@gmail.com. Response times are not guaranteed, but reasonable support requests are reviewed when possible.

Disclaimer​

To the maximum extent permitted by law, OnText is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory.

OnText does not guarantee uninterrupted operation, error-free behavior, compatibility with every Mac app, or that selected-text detection and replacement will work in every context.

Limitation Of Liability​

To the maximum extent permitted by law, OnText and its developer will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, business, goodwill, or productivity arising from your use of OnText.

Termination​

You may stop using OnText at any time.

OnText may terminate or restrict access if you violate these Terms, abuse support, bypass licensing, or use the app in a way that creates legal, security, or operational risk.

Changes To These Terms​

These Terms may be updated as OnText changes. The "Last updated" date will be changed when updates are made.

Continued use of OnText after updates means you accept the updated Terms.
